What Is the US FACT Act?

In 2003, The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT Act) was enacted and amended the existing Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) which regulates the use of consumer reports (background checks). The FACT Act disclosure clarified certain consumer rights, such as the right of an individual to receive one free copy of his/her consumer report every year. This includes the right to obtain a free copy of your credit report directly from the major federal credit bureaus. This can be obtained by visiting www.annualcreditreport.com.

PSI may have a consumer report on file for you, if we have previously conducted a background check and/or credit report for a company or organization that you have applied to for employment, work or volunteered for, or have applied to for residency as a tenant. You can obtain your free copy of this report by contacting PSI at 706-235-7574 or by emailing us at staff@psibackgroundcheck.com.

If you need to dispute information found on your report conducted by PSI, please contact us to initiate a reinvestigation by calling 706-235-7574.

If you are a New Mexico resident and believe you have been the victim of identity theft, you can submit a request for removal of information through regular or certified mail to this address:

Alternatively, you may fax a request to 706-235-6452.
